Before Siam – What we are

We are not professional archaeologists or anthropologists. But we have lived in and explored much of Thailand over the last 40 or more years. Our interests lie in the ancient. And there is a lot of it to see.

The Khmer influence is quite obvious, but there are other groups – Dvaravati, Mon, Tai and others. There is very little – if any written knowledge from these times, so all we have is the ruins and monuments left behind by these people.

We are not going to claim to be authorities on any of the sites we describe here, and we will borrow heavily from the academic literature available. We will though try to describe as many as we can and hope it will pique the interest of others.
