North of Nakhon Phanom, a small site on the left. Easily missed, but worth a stop. It looks like the footprints were uncovered during road construction and luckily someone recognised their worth. (But I could be wrong)

A very friendly and quite extensive museum of natural history seemingly in the middle of nowhere.

Well worth the visit though. The staff went out of their way to be helpful during our visit.

The signposting indicates a Fossil wood Museum. And although Fossil wood features heavily in the displays, there is much more to see.

Dating from the Neolithic period, it is thought that it is one of the sites defining the origin of the Bronze Age. The site was discovered in 1966 and has recently been developed, with a new museum building containing artefacts discovered in the area. The original excavation is a few hundred metres away in the grounds of the Wat.

Not far from the Sri Thep historical park a Dvaravati era pyramid. This is quite unique. Excavations are continuing in the surrounding area, it is likely a much larger site than is obvious. Most surprising is that it was only discovered relatively recently (~40 years or so)

Not far from the Sri Thep historical park, and located within a sanctuary, it is thought to have been constructed around the 1tth century (CE?). The Thai word Reusi translates to Hermit or Recluse, so possibly reflects on the sanctuary that encloses it.
